Mr. Sears is a Managing Director of the Fund focusing on project sourcing and analysis. He is a founding principal of PetroCap. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Sears was Vice President/CFO of R. Reid Investments, Inc. (now Energy Spectrum Advisors), a private investment banking firm concentrated exclusively in oil and gas transactions. His assignments included property purchases and sales, corporate mergers, acquisitions and restructurings, private placements of mezzanine or subordinated debt and acquisition/development joint venture financing. Before joining Reid Investments, Mr. Sears served for over eleven years in various financial capacities at American Petrofina, Incorporated, a Fortune 500 integrated energy company, in each case reporting to the CFO. During his last five years, he was the second ranking financial officer, in charge of commercial and general investment banking relationships. He participated in negotiations of varied longāterm financings, including production payments, secured and unsecured private institutional debt placements, joint venture projects, leveraged leases, pollution control bonds and equity offerings, and served as a member of corporate acquisition team. Mr. Sears received a BA from the University of North Carolina and an MBA from Southern Methodist University.
